Need to try real hard to stretch your dollar these days.

Need to try real hard to stretch your dollar these days.

Affected by today’s economy? That’s like asking if you’re affected by a local hurricane. There are plenty of ways to stretch your dollar that you wouldn’t normally think of; but this is one to write home about.

If you have any number of items around the house that you can bear to part with, gather all those items and hold a garage sale! Hold that thought though, before you put it off as “too much work,” I’m about to let you in on two secrets to organize your sale without leaving your couch.

  1. Pick up the phone and call 5 neighbors. Include them in on your sale. The more people involved, the bigger the crowds, and the more everyone benefits. Even if all of them don’t feel like participating, every one helps. Just make sure you have the space to hold all of that stuff - plus the crowds.
  2. Advertise your sale for free. You can actually get your sale out there for tons of garage sale hunters to see. Just head on over to GarageSales.com and have your sale posted within a few minutes. They even have tips for garage sale newbies.

Who said having a garage sale took a lot of work? The hardest part is parting yourself with all that stuff you’re going to sell.
